Shields are special units that, as the name implies, wield large ballistic shields. These units operate to defend other units as they push into the player's location.
Gameplay
In Crackdown mod, Shield enemies have improved AI that lets them better cover their squadmates. Shield units also have improved tracking and turning behaviors that make them harder to flank.

Tips & Trvia
- Shield users do not arrive on their own- they will virtually always be covering for other, higher threat units.
Design
- Shield units tend to use the underlying visual assets for a light unit from the assigned standard assault archetype for their difficulty and tier, so their stats follow from that depiction.
- Changes to this unit were focused on improving their AI and use in combined-unit squads; these less dramatic changes still produce substantial gameplay differences.
